Developing a WordPress website is a process that can vary significantly in duration, depending on the complexity and purpose of your site.

During this time we usually involve a wireframe & style guide reviews for you to approve, and 1 round of editing. So add at least an extra week for these steps and approval turnaround time.

Basic Sites

For a simple blog or informational website the development time itself can take about a week. 

Intermediate Sites

If you’re aiming for a site with added functionalities like portfolios, booking plugins, integrations with 3rd party platforms, social media widgets, expect development to spend two weeks. This includes time for selecting plugins, customizations, and thorough testing.

Complex Websites

For complex websites such as eCommerce stores or membership sites that require extensive functionality (e.g., product pages, payment gateways, user accounts, exclusive gated content), plan for a development period of three to six weeks or even longer. This incorporates design, plugin integrations, payment setups, and security enhancements.

Factors Impacting Development Time

• Scope and Features: More features mean more time. Custom functions that aren’t readily available in plugins or themes could necessitate additional coding and design work.
• Design Customizations: Opting for a unique design, as opposed to a standard template, will lengthen the timeline to allow for design iterations.
• Revisions and Feedback: Each round of revisions based on feedback adds time. Clarity on requirements can help streamline this phase.
• Development Schedule: It’s not likely I will be available the same month you are contacting me. At times I may be up to 3 months booked out. There are peaks and valleys so reach out to find out!

If you choose hosting with me, I apply an additional paid image optimization tool, a paid speed optimization tool, a paid security plugin to exclude unwanted locations from even knowing your site exists, anti spam plugins, and email deliverability features. All of this runs behind the scenes and may not be ‘seen’ but after rescuing sites that did not have these features and comparing them side by side – the difference has been very obvious for my clients.

Depending on the site, some additional design tools such as lifetime paid licenses for Divi, or my paid Elementor Pro subscription, or Gravity Forms pro features, may be included on your site. These design tools offer seamless styling and User Experience features across the entire site, and takes care of a many front-end design elements for you (instead of hard-coded CSS or scripts, which can be extremely difficult for your average staff member to find and edit).

These advancements are expenses that I pay for to ensure my sites are performing better. Please know should you migrate your site elsewhere some of these licenses may expire. This may not be so bad, as  your new host may also have their own licenses they prefer to apply.

The WordPress developer Plugin community is vast. If you have a specific functional need – a developer may have already created a Plugin for that such as a Business Directory function with maps, Booking plugin that contains a booking calendar and takes payment online, or a nightly lodging plugin that takes payment and sends all communications to your customers, AND more. The options are endless and that is why WordPress is a great option to help a small business become automated and/or scale. So you can pay less attention to the manual weeds of operational tasks, and do what you do best servicing your customers.

You are provided with a WordPress Admin login. This lets you do any task I can also accomplish on your site (if you want to). 

If you choose your own Hosting where I initiate your account and transfer it entirely to you -> You are the account owner of your hosting too. I typically use FlyWheel for your self-hosted sites because their customer service is incredible.
